Vancouver/Alaskan cruise 3/10
This morning I was going crazy for two reasons: we had to return the Hertz rental to the airport and catch a train back to Canada place to board our ship. All before noon…which didn’t happen. We technically had until 4pm to board so running late wasn’t a major problem. We took the train from the airport–which was an interesting experience as it is much like the subway/underground elsewhere. When we arrived, we walked underneath the hotel down to the dock to check through customs and head to our ship.
Here shawn and I are waiting in line to board. We’re wearing our homemade Disney Alaska shirts that we received several compliments on. And this was our second Disney cruise so we entered a different line with others who had been on other cruises before which was amazing! Boarding was a breeze and we got our silver “key to the world” room keys and lanyards. We get like royalty even though there are gold and platinum members of the cruise group that receive many other items.
Just before we boarded, we saw something I thought was adorable and neat. The K9 vehicle. The bomb sniffing dogs get their very own marked vehicle complete with all the comforts of home. Of course this was just before they announce your name as you enter the ship. Welcome abroad the Richter family!
Though our luggage would not be delivered for a couple hours and we needed to set things down, we ran to our room. I pulled it my door decor that I had been waiting for months to share.
Then we ran around the ship, exploring all there is to see before we left port. We also got lunch. I think it’s nastslgic to be able to play shuffle board on the deck.
The ship the first night was exciting. We sailed under a bridge, got to meet the captain for a selfie and meet our table and wait staff. Anthony and Pedro are a hysterical team. Our cruise director was pleasant and tried interacting with everyone.
Also, sleeping in an inside state room was a little scary the first night. There is practically no lights except the sliver around the doorframe. And when we pulled the curtains, it was pitch black. But I slept so well after the junk bed in the hotel in Vancouver, I hardly noticed.

I just did the Disney Alaska Cruise in June this year but reading your post makes me excited about it all over again. I read it and think, I did that! I remember that!
