Good morning everyone.
In the Bible there are many words for “power.” Continuing on from last week I thought I would look at another word that Paul commonly uses in his letters:
“Arche” can mean many things. From the Greek Dictionary…
1. the commencement of someth. as an action, process, or state of being, beginning, i.e. a point of time at the beginning of a duration.
2. one with whom a process begins,
6. an authority figure who initiates activity or process
Other definitions include rulers of a different sort–of transcendental and spiritual nature. It is not just the powers that exist on earth but also in the spiritual realms. Paul uses it in Ephesians several times and throughout his other letters. Do we have these kind of rules today? hmm…
